Overview

Dolpa is a remote and glorious corner of the Himalayas, bonded to the southeast by Mt Dhaulagiri ( 7th highest mountain on the earth) and to the west by Jumla isolated rest of Nepal. It is a huge land occupied by Nepal and forms Nepal's largest district Dolpa. Dolpa has long been bypassed by development and until recently by tourism. Dolpa was opened for tourists in 1989. Shey-phoksundo National Park was established in 1984 and is the largest National Park in Nepal with an area of 3555 sq. km. park itself has 286 species of ethnobotanical. Shey-phoksundo lake is one of the main attractions of the area. Dolpa is also known to Tibetan Buddhists as a hidden land. the Tibetan-style villages of Tarap and Phoksundo Lake boast impressive gompas and Bon monasteries, where yak caravans remain the main of transportation. Lower Dolpa treks are called until the Phoksundo lake, the upper part of the lake is called upper Dolpa.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive in Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport. Glacier Nepal treks representative welcomes you at the airport and takes you to the hotel by privet vehicle. After a short rest, You will meet the guide at our office. you may have some questions about trekking he will give you an answer to the question. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 : Free day at Kathmandu.

Exploring Kathmandu Sightseeing Points – Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa & Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square. evening some paperwork and your trekking guide will check your gear and outfit

Day 3 : Kathmandu to Nepalgunj flight (150m/492ft)

After an hour flight arrived at Nepaljung 150. Nepalgunj is the district headquarter of Banke and the trade hub for western Nepal. Nepalgunj is the hottest place in Nepal. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 : fly to Juphal (2,475m/8,120), trek to Dunai (2,140m/7,020ft) : 3hrs

Mostly we have a flight in the morning time from Nepalgunj to Juphal and arrangement our staffs then we start our trek first we have two hours descend and we walk on the side of Bheri river up to Dunai. Dunai is the base for treks around Tarap and Shey Phoksumdo National park. The main facilities are at the eastern end of the village and Dunai is the headquarters of Dolpo District and overnight stay at Dunai. 

Day 5 : Dunai to Chhepka (2,687m/8,815ft) : 6hrs

From Dunai cross the big steel suspension bridge and turn west follow the trail past the hospital and walk along the bank of Thulo Burrito it's the confluence with the Suli Gaad at 2070m and after another hour of walking we will reach Raktang 2260m. The Phoksumdo Lake trail climbs over a ridge at 2710m, then descend on a rocky path to Chekpa at 2670m and overnight stays at Cheka.

Day 6 : Chhepka to Jharana hotel (3,130m/10,269ft) : 4hrs

The new trail stays near the river climbing over the small village ridge, then crossing to the west side to avoid a large ridge and returning to the east side an hour later near the National park camping ground. The trail makes several more ups and downs through forests as it continues upstream to a bridge that leads to nine houses comprising the village of Renje and another hour to reach Jharana hotel and overnight stay at Jharan hotel.

Day 7 : Jharana hotel to Phoksundo Lake (3,611m/11,847ft)/ 6-7hrs

The route switchbacks steeply on a sandy trail through open country to an elevation of 3300m, then starts up another steep set of dusty switchbacks to a ridge at 3780m from the ridge there are a distant view of Phokshumdo Lake and a close view of a spectacular 200m high waterfall. The trail makes a steep descent in birch forests to the upper reaches of the brilliantly clear, rushing waters of the Phokshumdo Khola, then climbs gently to Ringmo village and just below Ringmo, crosses a bridge, and follows a trail north to the ranger station at Phokshumdo Lake 3730, there is national park camping ground on both sides of the river and overnight stay at Phokshumdo Lake.

Day 8 : Rest day at Phokshundo Lake.

We do explore the Bon Po Monastery and lake the whole day. Overnight at Phokshundo Lake

Day 9 : Phoshundolake to Sangta (2,460m/8,070ft) 5-6 hrs

After breakfast, we descend with a nice view of Phokshumdo Lake and waterfalls all the way Sangta and overnight stay at Sangta.

Day 10 : Sangta to Juphal (2,475m/8,120ft ) 6-7 hrs

We walk through the forests and more descend and in the last hour, we need gently climb up to Juphal and overnight stay at Juphal.

Day 11 : Juphal to Nepalgunj fight.

Mostly we have a morning flight about 1 hour from Juphal to Nepaljung and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Nepaljung.

Day 12 : Nepalgunj to Kathmandu flight.

From Nepaljung we have a flight to Kathmandu as we can take the bus to Kathmandu. you can utilize your time for last-minute shopping or you can explore the city. We celebrate the Farewell Dinner together with us and spend overnight at the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 13 : Final Departure

This is your final day in Nepal. Glacier Nepal treks representative will drop you at Tribhuwan international airport by privet vehicle. Home sweet home.
